Traveling to Anguilla:
Getting to Anguilla is a pretty easy with a direct flight from Miami, which connects well with most major cities. For those coming from elsewhere, you can also fly into St. Maarten and take a quick ferry or small plane over. While the direct flight into Anguilla is the easiest option, if you’re set on exploring St. Maarten as well, consider spending a couple of nights at the luxurious Belmond La Samanna. The ferry ride from St. Maarten to Anguilla takes about 25 minutes, and you can choose from several ferry companies. Just remember, you’ll need to go through passport control since you’re crossing international borders.
Best Time to Visit Anguilla:
The peak season in Anguilla is around the holidays through March, with many resorts requiring a 7-night minimum stay during the latter half of December. For a quieter, yet vibrant experience, I highly recommend visiting at the beginning of August. This period is just before the seasonal closures of most resorts and coincides with Anguilla’s lively summer carnival festival. Resorts typically close from mid-August through early October and during that time, many locals take their vacations.
Getting Around Anguilla:
Taxis are easily bookable through your hotel, but renting a car is also a good option. Make sure to reserve in advance as there are limited vehicles on the island. Driving is on the left side of the road, but with just three traffic lights island-wide, navigating isn’t difficult. For a unique and fun experience, consider renting a Moke—a colorful, open-air buggy that’s perfect for island exploration. During peak season, be sure to book these well in advance, which we can assist with.
